These kids really bring it to the table, some of the costumes were so insane that the people needed help to walk up and down the ramp just to get on stage (because of overly complicated costumes). Huge robots, winged women, and a couple Snakes (from MGS) in boxes. We really enjoy that part of Anime Central a bunch every year - its the sureshot highlight. The skits could’ve been better guys! No reason to be biased, I think that the skits have been way better in the past, although a couple repeat contestants always bring tons of creativity to the table. Animeism would like to take this time to announce its neutral involvement in all of the Yaoi references and jokes going on here at ACEN. We understand its a part of the culture.. just not ours! The best skits involved Yaoi I’m pretty sure. We’re also announcing our candidacy for the winner of next year’s skit contest - we’re going to win, we just don’t know how yet. :p

We’ll post some of those pictures later on today.

]]> http://animeism.org/2008/05/the-famous-masquerade/feed/ PeelanderZ is our favorite http://animeism.org/2008/05/peelanderz-is-our-favorite/ http://animeism.org/2008/05/peelanderz-is-our-favorite/#comments Sat, 17 May 2008 16:22:24 +0000 admin http://animeism.org/?p=18 One of Animeism’s first events at Anime Central 2008 was backstage passes to a couple concerts, which we only stayed long enough to have our minds melted by Peelander Z.  This J Punk rock group isn’t quite what we expected as a staff, but that’s not to say we didn’t have an enjoyable time.  With all of their diving into the crowd, bodyboarding, human bowling and very blunt signs that read whatever they wanted the crowd to yell at them - it was hard not to at least say you had a good time watching them entertain us.  Slightly retarded or not, Peelander Z does their job well and in the end that’s all that matters.

We’ll be running around with the camera today - More updates to the blog and gallery later

Oh yea, and on a different note - I had an opportunity to browse Animeism in Internet Explorer 6 for the first time just the other day and it looks horrible!  Though, a very fixable problem - IE6 gives us web developers a headache and a half when it comes to coding XHTML/CSS - so forgive the mess, but I won’t be able to fix it for a few days - in the meantime… If you want to be really nice you should consider Browse Happy.

If you’ve been following the all of my NLAnime websites, and the past Animeism versions, you know that I love to switch up my designs frequently and especially right before our favorite event: Anime Central! Today is no different! So, with no further adieu - Animeism would like to present, Animeism v3 Grungy.

We have Animeism hooked up to Wordpress and functioning smoothly, so that the gallery is even easier for you than last year. And this time around, if you own your own anime related website - we can give a little link love to you right over there –>

So, we definitely hooked it up - Maybe Anime Central will let Animeism hook them up with a website next year ;)

But anyways, this is just my little introductory post - I hope to see you in a couple of days in Rosemont, Illinois @ the Hyatt Regency O’Hare.
